Consider to be Allies is the collaborative project of Margaux Parillaud (FR) and Mie Frederikke Fischer Christensen (DK). Working together since 2014, they graduated Cum Laude from De Rietveld Academie (NL) with a collaborative project and have since exhibited internationally. Recent showcases include Overgaden Platform for Contemporary Art (DK) and Ateliers Du Vent (FR). Mie holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is based in Copenhagen where she is a member of the artist-run space Udstillingsstedet Sydhavn Station. Margaux is based in Rennes and is part of the team organizing the annual Performance Festival Setu. Our practice explores humanity's capacity for change through dialogue, imagination, and material engagement. By blending performance, video, and installation, we investigate how intangible concepts can be translated into embodied, sensory experiences that challenge fixed perceptions of reality. We explore how perception and opinion are shaped by history, mythology, pop culture, and the subconscious “collective memory" and we often use clichés, pop-culture and tropes as entryways to more abstract layers. Our work departs from the familiar and lands in absurd distorted realities that allow for new reflections on everyday life. Grounded in materiality, we explore the tactile and unpredictable qualities of materials, integrating costumes, sets, and props as equal parts of our conceptual process. Our work connects the spiritual, mysterious, and material aspects of life, with radical pedagogies, reshaping how we experience space, time, and narrative.
